Girls are starting to wear makeup at a young age.
Young girls do not need to wear as much makeup as older women. Their young skin
has more color and looks best by allowing their natural beauty to
show through. Teenagers can wear the latest trends as well as bright
colors and makeup with glitter and shine. Listed below are a few optional products
and application techniques for a teenage girl.
Application
- Apply one thin coat of mascara to lashes to help emphasize eyes. If lashes are blonde or brown, use a brown
mascara. If lashes are naturally black, use black mascara.
- Use a little concealer to cover up any blemishes on
the face. Apply a small amount to the finger or a sponge and
lightly tap directly over the blemish until blended.
- Use powder foundation to even out skin tone and to help control shine.
- Apply a light colored lip gloss to lips.
*All products listed are suggested options. It is up to you
whether to use all or just a few of the products. Please talk with
your parent or guardian before starting to wear makeup.
**Girls under age 13 and trying makeup for the first time should start with just
a light colored, sparkle lip gloss.
A Note for Mothers
Mothers should not be scared when their young daughter
comes to them wanting to start wearing makeup.
The best thing to do is to start her out slow so that both mother and
daughter can get used to the
change. Begin with a light
colored lip gloss that has a little sparkle and shine.
Later she can move on to a little mascara. Then use a light, sparkle eye shadow and some concealer.
Mothers should discuss this with their daughters and the process can be one that
they enjoy together.
